Cyberjaya DC Infrastructure build with BIM

TNB’s inaugural Data Centre in Cyberjaya represents a forward-looking approach to mission-critical infrastructure, combining operational resilience, environmental responsibility and long-term adaptability.Designed with flexibility and future expansion in mind, the development integrates sustainable and low-carbon strategies across the building and its supporting infrastructure. Both embodied and operational carbon considerations informed the design, supporting Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s broader net-zero agenda and establishing the facility as a pioneering development of its kind in Malaysia.The site’s natural characteristics played an important role in shaping the overall design response. Its original terrain featured an undulating landscape with a low-lying water depression running east to west through the centre of the site. Rather than incorporating vegetation directly onto the building envelope—where plant systems could potentially conflict with the sensitive operational requirements of a data centre—the biophilic strategy was applied throughout the surrounding compound.Water is managed as a valuable site resource through an integrated stormwater management system. Bioswales and drainage cells within the surface parking areas help control runoff, improve site resilience and support a greener surrounding environment.Avant Aegis BIM InvolvementAvant Aegis supported the project through BIM development up to LOD 500, producing a detailed digital representation of the completed facility and its supporting infrastructure. The BIM scope contributed to:Coordinated and accurate representation of architectural, structural and building-services elements. Consolidation of verified as-built information within a structured digital environment. Improved coordination and information consistency across the project disciplines. Detailed documentation of installed building assets and systems. A reliable digital foundation for future facilities management, maintenance and operational planning.
